Saudi Arabia will face Iraq, Bahrain, and Yemen in Group B of the 26th Arab Gulf Cup
The 26th Arabian Gulf Cup draw has placed Saudi Arabia in a challenging position. Set to take place in Kuwait from December 21, 2024, to January 3, 2025, the tournament will see the Green Falcons face Iraq, Bahrain, and Yemen in Group B. Host nation Kuwait leads Group A, joined by Qatar, the UAE, and Oman, promising intense regional competition.
The organizing committee categorized teams into three tiers for the draw. Saudi Arabia and Qatar headline the first tier, with Bahrain and the UAE in the second, and Oman and Yemen in the third. As the host, Kuwait secured its place in Group A, while defending champions Iraq joined Saudi Arabia in Group B, setting up a thrilling clash of top teams.
Green Falcons Eye Fourth Title
Saudi Arabia’s national team will chase their fourth Gulf Cup title in this tournament. The Green Falcons previously lifted the trophy in 1994, 2002, and 2003. Additionally, they finished as runners-up six times, with their most recent runner-up position in 2010. This year, they hope to break the title drought and reclaim regional dominance.
In the last Gulf Cup, hosted by Iraq in Basra, the Iraqi team edged Oman 3-2 in extra time to clinch the title. This year, Saudi Arabia aims to avenge their past results and add another trophy to their record.
Challenging Road Ahead
Anticipation is high as the Green Falcons prepare to face their formidable group rivals. Iraq, the reigning champion, promises tough competition, while Bahrain and Yemen bring unique challenges. With regional pride and prestige on the line, the Saudi team must bring their best to advance through the group stage.
The journey begins on December 21, and fans across the region eagerly await the action-packed matches. Will Saudi Arabia reclaim the Gulf Cup title? Stay tuned for updates on their progress through Gulf 26.
