“This additional greenhouse acreage allows us to further our mission of delivering wow flavour experiences with locally grown fruits and vegetables,” said company CEO/president Paul Mastronardi.

“We are excited about these additional farms, as the increased acreage will play a vital role in supporting our continued growth in Canada and ensuring we meet the rising demand for Sunset branded produce.”

A fourth-generation operation in the greenhouse industry, Mastronardi Produce grows and markets products under the Sunset, Backyard Farms, BerryWorld, and Queen of Greens brands. With over 70 years of family ownership, Mastronardi Produce grows tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, berries and lettuce.

In addition to adding a new facility, Mastronardi announced it will serve as the exclusive long-term marketer for two other local operations. Mastronardi Produce is teaming up with Kingsville’s J.C. Fresh Farms Ltd., which has a 32-acre facility, and Leamington’s Orangeline Farms, which operates 32 acres.
