Lara Spencer To Host ‘That Thrifting Show’ Ordered By Freeform & Hulu, Re-Ups With ‘Good Morning America’

EXCLUSIVE: Hulu and Freeform have greenlighted That Thrifting Show with Lara Spencer, an unscripted design competition series hosted and executive produced by Lara Spencer. Additionally, Spencer has inked a new multi-year deal with ABC News to continue on Good Morning America, sources tell Deadline.

In the 12-episode That Thrifting Show, which will debut on Hulu and Freeform in 2026, vintage design expert Spencer presents two designer duos with identical rooms. With limited time and budget, teams must treasure hunt for vintage and thrift store finds to design their way to beautiful, layered, finished rooms. It’s style and sustainability in a race against the clock.

“It is so meaningful to share my childhood love of thrifting and celebrate this new generation’s passion for sustainable design,” Spencer said. “As you will see on That Thrifting Show, there are so many incredible treasures out there, just waiting to be reimagined and given a new life. To see the rooms these designers create with their thrifted finds is aspirational and simply amazing.”

Spencer previously created and hosted HGTV’s Daytime Emmy-winning Flea Market Flip and created, executive produced and hosted HGTV’s Everything But the House.

That Thrifting Show with Lara Spencer is produced for ABC News Studios by Butternut, a division of Wheelhouse Entertainment, and Envisionary Productions. Spencer serves as executive producer, alongside Courtney White and Cheryl Wayne for Butternut, Jon Rosen for Envisionary Productions, and senior executive producer David Sloan and Melia Patria for ABC News Studios.

At Freeform/Hulu, That Thrifting Show joins an unscripted slate that includes the Project Runway revival.

ABC News would not comment on the new deal with GMA, which extends Spencer’s relationship with the ABC morning show that dates back to 1999 when she first joined as a correspondent. After a break, she returned to GMA in 2011 and three years later was named co-anchor. For the past seven years, Spencer has served as a contributor on GMA while also focusing on producing.
