With under an hour to go before the NBA All-Star Game tips off, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green called his shot. During the pre-game show on TNT, Green claimed that the Warriors would 100 percent win the NBA title this season.
The veteran forward used the team’s addition of star Jimmy Butler as the main reason for his belief.
“Since he’s been here, we’ve walked into every game, thinking and believing we’re gonna win that game, and that goes a long way in this league…so he’s brought back that belief and I think we’re gonna win the championship. I said, I think we’re gonna win a championship but I lied, we are going to win the championship. It’s going to happen.”
During his comments, Green said that he isn’t afraid of any team in the Western Conference this season.
“None of these (contending) teams scare me. I don’t see any team and go ‘Oh, that’s the team that’s gonna do it.’ You know why you don’t see that team? Because you’re about to start seeing that team, and it is the Warriors.”

This is a bold statement from Green but he has always been a confident player. Green has helped the Warriors win four NBA titles during the course of his career.
But it could be an uphill for the Warriors, even with Butler now on the roster. Golden State currently sits in 10th place within the West, holding a record of 28-27.

The trio of Green, Butler, and guard Stephen Curry should give the Warriors a fighting chance, but the depth around them may not be enough. Golden State has struggled to find consistency off the bench and it could come back to hurt them come playoff time.
Green will need to back up this claim with strong play down the stretch of the season. And if the Warriors don’t win the title this season, fans will come back to this statement from the forward with full force.
