A developer has bought a plot of land near Bicester which has permission for 147 new homes.
Wates Developments has announced the sale of the land south of Green Lane in Chesterton to Bellway Homes.
The site, which has outline planning permission from Cherwell District Council, will provide 147 new homes, 52, or 35 per cent, of which will be affordable.
The 36-acre site will also include open green spaces, children’s play areas, sports pitches, and allotments.
Nick Laugharne, operations director for land and development at Wates Developments, said: “The land south of Green Lane offers a great opportunity to deliver sustainable homes in a sustainable location, significantly contributing to the supply of vital new housing for people in Chesterton.
“Completing on the site sale with Bellway is testimony to the expertise of our in-house land and planning teams.
“We’ll be excited to see Bellway take this through the next stages of planning and delivery.”
The site was identified in Cherwell District Council’s emerging local plan as a sustainable location for residential development.
Savills acted for the landowner and Wates Developments.
Sarah Fenton, director at Savills, said: “We have acted on behalf of the landowner since 2017 and upon the selection of Wates as promotion partner, worked collectively to achieve a satisfactory planning permission at appeal.
“We look forward to seeing the delivery of this high-quality scheme.”
