Green Ember: Helmer in the Dragon Tomb Demo Now Available on Steam

Step Inside the World of Green Ember: Helmer in the Dragon Tomb
Longtreader Games has revealed that a free demo of Green Ember: Helmer in the Dragon Tomb is now available for PC and Mac on Steam. It offers fans their first chance to explore the beloved world of S.D. Smith’s bestselling Green Ember series in a fresh way. With more than 1.7 million copies of the books sold, the series has a devoted following, and this game takes players into a fresh chapter of its lore.

The top-down adventure places players in the role of Helmer before he became a legendary figure, inviting them to face dangerous Nightwalkers, solve clever puzzles, and rescue those in peril. Brazen Animation’s acclaimed artistry brings the vibrant world to life, adding depth and beauty to the experience.

This demo represents the first hands-on look at an ambitious cross-media project launched in April through Kickstarter. The campaign united 2,600 backers who pledged $250,000 to fund both a new Green Ember novel and this video game adaptation, signaling strong support from the community.

S.D. Smith, the author and creator of the game, expressed both excitement and anticipation about how fans will respond to the new medium. He said, “Will it be validated by our audience? I know them very well on the book front. That’s what I wonder about the video game. Will they come along and say, ‘We support this and we’re excited about it too?’ That’s our hope. That’s the boss level we’ve chosen to fight.”

Green Ember: Helmer in the Dragon Tomb is currently in development for PC and Mac. There may be some additional platform announcements in the future. The demo’s release gives fans a thrilling first step into Helmer’s untold story.
