Report: Cowboys Tried to Make Another Micah Parsons Trade Before Packers

The Dallas Cowboys parted ways with superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons, sending him to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark.

Jerry Jones trading Parsons within the NFC was a surprise. Many expected that he would be traded to an AFC team. That wasn’t the case.

Despite the fact that the Cowboys traded Parsons to an NFC opponent, it wasn’t due to a lack of trying to go a different route.

According to a report from NFL insider Jay Glazer, Dallas tried to find interest in Parsons from the AFC. There simply wasn’t interest to be had.

That is a major surprise. Quite a few teams in the AFC could use some pass rushing help. Adding a player like Parsons would be a dream for many teams around the NFL.

Just a few of the teams who could have made sense for Parsons in the AFC include the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, and Buffalo Bills. None of them appeared to have enough interest to make the Cowboys part with Parsons.

Instead, Parsons will now be a part of a new-look Packers’ defense. The hope for Dallas is that the trade doesn’t come back to haunt them in a matchup against Green Bay.

Speaking of the two teams playing, that first meeting will happen in Week 4 of this season on Sunday Night Football. Parsons will make his return to Dallas to face off against the Cowboys with his new team. That will be a highly anticipated game.

It will be interesting to see how this trade looks for both teams over the next couple of years. Dallas will look to find quality young pieces with the two first-round picks it received. Clark will help immediately on the defensive front.

All of that being said, the fans frustrated with the Cowboys for trading Parsons within the NFC now have their reason for why that happened. It’s because no AFC teams showed enough interest to get a trade done, not because Jones didn’t try.
