Joseph (Joe) Johnson Green, age 88, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on August 10, 2025, from his home in Fayetteville, Georgia. He was born in Abanda, Alabama, on June 5, 1937, and was baptized following his spiritual birth at Hapeville First Baptist Church on March 5, 1961.
Joe retired from Benning Construction Company in 1994 after 35 years of dedicated and outstanding service as a Construction Superintendent.
An avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener, he loved spending time in the great outdoors. One of his greatest joys was teaching children how to fish. He also enjoyed traveling and experiencing other parts of the world. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and serving the Lord through his church.
Joe was an ordained deacon for 54 years and served faithfully until health concerns made it necessary to step back from active service. He held many roles within the church, including serving on the Building and Grounds Committee where he shared his expertise in the construction industry. He also participated in numerous Kingdom Builders mission trips.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Barbara Buice Green; his children, Keith Green and Brian Green (Kim Wallace Green); his grandchildren, Brian Austin Green, Lauren Green, and Blake Green (Kelsey Aitken Green); and great-granddaughter, Avery Green. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Lee Green and Virginia Hodges Green, and his sister, Virginia Lee Green Cole.
