A new era is dawning in the heart of Budapest’s District XIII as MBH Bank launches a major development project that will completely transform the Göncz Árpád City Center.
The construction of the new, sustainable headquarters is not only a striking architectural milestone but also a comprehensive urban development initiative aimed at improving walkability, increasing green space, and creating accessible public areas in one of the city’s busiest intersections.

As Index previously reported, MBH Bank has begun constructing a sustainable new headquarters in Budapest’s District XIII, at the intersection of Róbert Károly Boulevard and Váci Road. The modern building complex will not only offer a state-of-the-art and efficient work environment for the bank’s employees, but it also holds significant potential for urban revitalization.
The goal of the project is to deliver a visually appealing structure that blends organically into the city’s architectural landscape. The investment contributes to the comprehensive transformation of the Göncz Árpád City Center, making the area more sustainable, accessible, and livable for both residents and visitors.

The renewal of Göncz Árpád City Centre
The project’s impact goes beyond aesthetics and environmental upgrades, bringing major community and transportation improvements. A key infrastructure component is the complete overhaul of the Árpád Bridge metro entrance—new ramps, elevators, and staircases will be installed, and pavement surfaces will be replaced.
Special attention is being paid to families with small children, the elderly, and those with limited mobility, ensuring barrier-free access to the metro. This will complete the accessibility upgrades of the M3 metro line, with the station at Göncz Árpád City Centre being the final missing link.

Transportation in the area is also set for a major upgrade: new pedestrian and bike connections will be created, including a direct link from Esztergomi Street to Árpád Bridge, with bicycle lanes added to several streets. A new surface-level pedestrian crossing on Váci Road will connect directly to the revamped underpass.
These changes are expected to greatly enhance accessibility and traffic safety in the area. Beyond improving mobility, the project also aims to foster a greener, more people-centred urban environment. As part of this, MBH Bank will develop new parks and green spaces equipped with automated irrigation systems.

The construction of the headquarters is slated to enter its most visible phase in the second half of the year, when structural elements begin to rise. MBH Bank’s vision extends beyond simply erecting a modern office building: the goal is to create long-term value in the city’s fabric by developing a sustainable, livable space that serves both work and community functions.
The transformation of Göncz Árpád City Centre stands as a key example of this ambition, offering a new quality of life where work, commuting, relaxation, and nature can coexist harmoniously.
