Puri girl set on fire airlifted to AIIMS Delhi; BJD-cops clash at Balanga police station

The 16-year-old girl from Bayabar village in Puri district, who sustained critical burn injuries in a brutal daylight attack on July 19, was airlifted to AIIMS Delhi on Sunday. A dedicated green corridor was created for shifting the victim to the Bhubaneswar airport.

Authorities initiated the high-speed medical transfer from AIIMS Bhubaneswar to Biju Patnaik International Airport amid tight security arrangements and widespread public attention.

The airlift was executed minutes after a dedicated ambulance, escorted by police, departed AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Key traffic junctions across the city were cordoned off to ensure unhindered movement.

A doctor team from AIIMS Bhubaneswar accompanied the victim to the aircraft, where they were joined by another medical team from AIIMS Delhi. Under the heavy presence of security, the victim was moved from the ambulance to the aircraft.

She would receive further treatment at AIIMS Delhi. As of the latest health update, the victim remains critical yet responsive with 75% burn injuries. While she was not on a ventilator, she remained on oxygen support in the Burn ICU and under round-the-clock observation by a 14-member medical team.
