Twenty-six people, including two foreign nationals, were killed when terrorists opened fire on tourists in Baisaran near Pahalgam, Kashmir. The attack, the worst since Pulwama in 2019, occurred around 3 pm in Baisaran, a meadow located roughly six kilometres from Pahalgam. Known for its lush green landscape surrounded by pine forests and mountains, Baisaran—often referred to as ‘mini Switzerland’—is a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists.
