Just as major broadcast networks were starting their primetime convention coverage, former President Donald Trump arrived at the Fiserv Forum, to music of Lee Greenwood singing “Proud To Be An American.”
He got a rousing ovation for his first major public appearance since the assassination attempt over the weekend.
Trump put his fist in the air at times, but he also appeared a bit more subdued than in his entrances at rallies and other events.
After he arrived, the crowd chanted “Fight. Fight. Fight,” repeating what Trump said after he rose on the stage in Butler, PA and rose his fist in the air. A bandage was over his ear, covering the injury when a bullet grazed the side of his head.

“That was extraordinary,” CNN’s Chris Wallace said after Trump took his seat.
The moment also was Trump’s first appearance with J.D. Vance since he selected the Ohio senator as his running mate. They listened to the speakers, including Amber Rose, the rapper and TV personality.
Sitting near Trump and members of his family were Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) and Tucker Carlson, the TV host and former Fox News personality.
