Garret Dillahunt Joins HBO’s “Lanterns”

AMC
Garret Dillahunt (“Fear The Walking Dead,” “Deadwood”) has scored a major recurring role in HBO’s drama series “Lanterns” based on the Green Lantern DC comic.

He marks the fourth piece of casting on the series following leads Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre along with the confirmation of series regular Kelly MacDonald on Wednesday.

Boasting a gritty “True Detective” vibe, the series follows Hal Jordan (Chandler), a legend amongst the space police force known as the Green Lanterns. He is reluctantly mentoring John Stewart (Pierre), a younger Green Lantern.

The two intergalactic cops get drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland. Macdonald plays the town’s sheriff.

Dillahunt will play a cowboy named William Macon, described as self-righteous and conspiracy-minded. His charming facade hides a man of ruthless ambition.

The series marks the first major TV endeavor from DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. James Hawes (“Slow Horses”) will helm the first two episodes of the eight episode run of “Lanterns”.

Chris Mundy (“Ozark”), Damon Lindelof (“Watchmen”) and Eisner Award-winning comic book writer Tom King are executive producing and writing, with Mundy showrunning.
