Foster New HQ, New NAME, New Chapter

(RestaurantNews.com)  Greensboro-born, fresh food distributor Foster Caviness is excited to share they are expanding with a new brand name and an additional 165,000 square foot HQ in Winston-Salem, North Carolina! With this move, the company now known as Foster, will proudly operate the most robust food supply chain in the Mid-Atlantic, nourishing more people than ever before.

CAPABILITES OF THE NEW FACILITY

Multiple Repackaging Options –

At the new additional facility and HQ, Foster will offer a turnkey processing operation to prep produce and make products like fruit cups, sandwiches, wraps and pre-made salads. Plus, a high-speed bagging and repackaging operation will put products such as potatoes and apples from local farmers into trays, mesh bags, and poly. “We’ll be bringing in local products and rebagging them for commercial use,” Chris Fuss, Vice President Sales and Marketing, said.

State of the Art Ripening Capabilities –

Another new offering will be six professional grade ripening rooms for avocados, bananas and tomatoes. Each room is designed to enhance ripening through controlled pressure, temperature, and the application of ethylene gas—a natural product produced by many ripening fruits, like apples—which, when concentrated, helps induce ripening in other fruits like avocados.

Cold/Dry/Frozen Storage Expansion –

Within the 165,000 square foot building, they will be expanding storage capabilities, with greater options for dry, cold, and frozen storage – Offering a robust inventory management system with full visibility.

NEW BRAND

Foster is streamlining its operations to offer a more focused approach across all aspects of the fresh food supply chain, and rebranding is a part of that!

New Divisions –

Beyond the move to Winston-Salem and the new name, the company is also rebranding their specialized divisions into three divisions: Foster360, your solution for receiving and storage, inventory management, processing, packaging, grading and delivery; FosterFoodService, trusted source of fresh produce, dairy and specialty products; and FosterFreight, nimble partner for meeting all the “rights”… time, location, product, and temperature for your product.

As Foster opens their new facility, they’re also excited to be hiring for 165 new positions to join the family and be part of this exciting next chapter in Winston-Salem.
